PUBG Mobile 0.12.0 Update

What's next after PUBG mobile 0.11.5 update? Yeah, it's 0.12.0 update! This update will also bring some new guns, new features, new attachments, and many new features. So let us have a look at those features.

1. MP5K (Gun) :

MP5K is a new SMG gun coming to PUBG mobile 0.12.0 update. This gun will be available only on Vikendi map and will replace Vector from Vikendi map. This gun will require 9mm ammo. The MP5K is highly versatile with single, burst and full auto firing options. It can support all attachment types. View the video to know more about it.

2. Skorpion (Gun) :

It is a full-auto weapon pistol that works on 9mm ammo. Its capacity can be increased from default 20 rounds to 40 rounds using a standard extended magazine. It can be switched from single fire to full auto. The only disadvantage is that it has lower per bullet damage than other pistols. If you want to use this weapon, you have to wait for PUBG mobile 0.12.0 update.

3. Competitive mode will be re-added:

This mode was once available in PUBG but later it was removed. Now on public demand, they are bringing it back on PUBG mobile 0.12.0 update. Those players who don't know what it is or recently started players, let me explain it to you. So basically, it is an arcade mode where there are no bots i.e. all the players are real.
The minus point of this mode is that it takes 10 minutes or more, depending on the number of players, to load. This mode is perfect for those who hate bots or for pro players who want only real players to kill.

4. Canted sight (attachment) :

It is a secondary attachment that allows the player to quickly switch between the 1x Canted sight and the other scope used. It is already launched in PUBG PC, Xbox and PS4. To know more about Canted sight you can visit my post about it
It was planned to release in PUBG 0.11.5 update but later it was postponed to PUBG mobile 0.12.0 update

5. Death Cam (feature) :

Death Cam is a new feature coming to PUBG mobile   0.12.0 update. If you are playing the game and suddenly someone kills you then this Cam will allow you to view the scene i.e. after your death you can use the feature to know exactly who killed you, what gun the opponent used and other information. The main reason behind the adding of this feature is that many players were reporting the presence of hackers in the game. So PUBG added this feature to know whether there was a real hacker or not.

6. Bug tracking system :

Lagging is the worst enemy for online players. PUBG Corp. understands it and is trying its best to remove lagging as much as possible.
For this, PUBG is installing a software called Bug tracking system. This software will scan the game, detect any bug present in the game and will report it to the PUBG developers. The PUBG developers can, then work on that bug and remove it. This is just a concept for now but we hope to find it in the PUBG mobile 0.12.0 update.

7. More chats are added :

If you are bored with existing chats like "Help!", " I got supplies!" etc. then in the PUBG mobile 0.12.0 update you will be able to add some more chats in both male and female voices. And you can irritate your friends as like I do with my friends.

8. The White Eagle :

You will be able to have the White Eagle as your companion in the PUBG mobile 0.12.0 update. The Eagle will follow wherever you go.

9. Scope colors :

The PUBG mobile 0.12.0 update will let you change the color and shape of the pointer of a gun. People who were bored red color can change it to several colors including white, sky, pink, black and others.

Release date:

There is no officially confirmed release date for PUBG mobile 0.12.0 update, but the expected date, as of my prediction, is 20-25 April 2019. I repeat again this is my prediction and not officially confirmed. Once the date is officially confirmed, the date will be posted on our facebook page. So please like our page to get future updates.

Authentic Vs Epic

So, I tweeted out a poll last night.  If you were DMing, would you rather go for authentic or epic?

Several people responded "both" or asked what the difference was or just needed clarification.  My reply required more than Twitter's character limit could give me.

When I say "authentic" I mean a few things...

1) Realism:  Yes, it's hard to talk about realism when we're dealing with sorcerers and dragons.  Verisimilitude is probably closer to the mark.  What would a genuine romp through the campaign setting look like?  Sleeping on the ground, cooking beans and sausages in the fire, or the Disney version where sleeping arrangements aren't even considered because everyone's rushing from starship chase to disarming the nuclear fireball to dueling with the PCs' arch-nemesis.

2) The mundane stuff:  Doesn't have to be all grim and gritty and covered in filth, but it shouldn't be super glamorous.  The lived-in universe of Star Wars IV where Luke has to scrape off the carbon scoring by hand.  That's not epic.  Nor is cleaning bedpans, but someone's got to do it.  Should the PCs?  Well, not for the entire scenario, obviously.  However, would it kill them to start their adventuring life mopping the tavern floor or chasing after poop-covered chickens?

3) Things just happen:  Not much attention is paid to the beginning, middle, and end.  No inciting incident, rising action, or climax.  As you get deeper, things may get increasingly hairy, but that's just logical progression, not anything to do with a story arc.

When I'm talking about epic, I mean things that are larger than life and grandiose.  Since I'm already on a Star Wars kick, the sequel trilogy (episodes VII - IX) would be epic.  Humble beginnings quickly lead to whooping ass and taking names right in the middle of a galactic drama between good and evil (or what passes for such things).

If this were an epic D&D session, even meeting in a tavern would launch straight into a quest to save the kingdom or at least a princess.  In contrast, an authentic session where PCs also meet in a tavern might escalate into a barroom brawl before overhearing that an entrance to the mythic underworld has just been found just outside town.

Epic goes for adventure with a capital A.  Authentic reminds you that even if you score a decent haul of treasure, there's still a chance for catching a splinter while you're polishing the blacksmith's anvil, listening to the village idiot drone on about his imaginary cat.

And yes, there's a connection between authentic vs. epic and sandbox vs. pre-plotted linear adventure.  The former moves along at it's own pace, organically... usually haphazard and occasionally awkward.  The latter is sleek and stylish with thrills and chills at regular intervals, but let's face it, those adventures also feel kind of staged, plastic... artificial, even.

So, the big question!  Are these mutually exclusive or can epic and authentic go together like chocolate and peanut butter?  I'd say, yes, it's possible to do both.  And yet, exceedingly rare is the Game Master who can consistently pull off authentic and epic in the same session.  Campaigns are easier to manage authentic and epic because different adventures can provide for tonal shifts.  Even the farm boy from Tatooine can blow up a Death Star after 10 sessions of hard work.

In the end, I, too, prefer both.  However, if I had to set my sights on just one... it would be authentic because that gets you closer to immersion, which is the prime factor of roleplaying games.

p.s. Want the Cha'alt hardcover?  Due to high demand, I've decided to extend the special January deal until Valentine's Day... while supplies last!

Wrong Number, Short Film, Review And Interview

When you have a dream that is so vivid and you are a part of it, is it more than just a dream? Wrong Number provides that level of psychological horror. It brings back memories of our own troubled nights of sleeping.

Wrong Number was screened at the 2019 FilmQuest film festival (website).

I recommend Wrong Number for those who enjoy psychological horror. Delving into the possibilities of someone or something keeping tabs on us.

Synopsis: When a women with a foreboding dream, she must find out its meaning before it's too late.

Tiago Telxeira wrote and directed Wrong Number. Here they share their inspiration for the film along with what inspired them to become a filmmaker. Of course there is more to them than just this film so we also find out what they are working on and what they like to do when they're not looking through the camera or working on a script.

What was the inspiration for Wrong Number?

It was something that happened to me. One night years ago, I woke up in the middle of the night after a bad dream. I was sure I was going to get some terrible news from a phone call. And then the phone rang and I almost had a heart attack. There was no one on the line, but this stick with me for a long time, for obvious reasons.

What project(s) do you have coming up you're excited about?

I'm currently developing my previous shorts into features. I have full scripts and am in talks with some different producers and financiers, so, let's see what will happen next!

What was your early inspiration for pursuing a career in film?

I've always loved film, literature and comics. It took me time to find out what I was more passionate about, and it's definitely film. Maybe growing up on a diet of David Lynch, Carpenter and Cronenberg has helped.

What would be your dream project?

Travelling back in time and directing an episode of Twin Peaks.

What are some of your favorite pastimes when not working on a movie?

Watching strange movies, reading weird fiction, exploring the canals and pubs of London.

What is one of your favorite movies and why?

The Thing. It's the perfect mix between psychological and body horror and in my opinion, John Carpenter's masterpiece.

Convergence Of Cyriss - A Side Project

This post is going to start a hobby documentary on how to rehabilitate poorly treated used models and salvage an army using hobby skills. It'll also document my dabbling with Convergence of Cyriss from a gameplay perspective. I'm still mainlining Trolls, but I figure I'll play with my new CoC every once and a while.

Why start Convergence?

I've had bits and pieces of CoC sitting in my closet for years. Maybe a year after release I picked up an original Prime Axiom and Transfinite Emergence Projector basically new in box for like $60 for the two of them, figuring it was a deal too good to pass up.  I also picked up a friends Aurora and Clockwork Angels when he was selling out of the faction (my wife said they were pretty).

In terms of design, they've certainly appealed to me from a gameplay perspective. With the latest release of Orion for the faction they really seem like they have the tools to be able to deal with pretty much anything, which is something PP has been setting as their goal for their limited release factions. I also kind of like the idea that once I've bought into it, I'm basically done with major purchases. It's all about experimenting with the limited toolset as the meta changes.

Also the focus induction mechanics seem really cool. I appreciate the puzzle in each game of trying to mastermind how to make the clockwork like system of getting the focus around to maximize efficiency.  I'm an engineer by trade and the way PP made that clockwork system into a game mechanic really intrigues me.

What made me actually jump into the faction was that I found two separate retail for retail trade opportunities.  Someone was looking to trade CoC for 40k Orks, and was interested in the entire lot I've been looking to offload for years.  I also found someone who wanted nearly all of the Circle I was trying to offload and we worked out equitable trades.  It's always a great value when you can do retail-for-retail trades on models you own to get models you want.  The downside is that the very large lot I got in exchange for my old Orks was largely piles of crap that I had to salvage. Luckily the trade I got for Circle was excellent.

What to do when you get badly treated used models

One mistake I made on my first trade with the Orks for CoC was not asking for pictures of the models I was trading for. Note to readers: Always Ask For Pictures When Trading On The Internet.

This ended up being pretty bad overall, since the models I got were nearly all broken, some of which looked like they were given to a young child to try and paint, and some were clearly nicely done conversions that were then traded to this person who then mistreated them.  My trade was to include an Axis and Lucant, but since the models weren't complete the person included a second version of the models, all of which still required bits orders from PP or just wholesale replacement of the model to get something functional.

Nearly every walking Vector chassis had all their legs broken off at weird angles, and two of the Inverters I got are missing the chain+flail bit altogether.  What's worse is that I found the unit of Reciprocators I received weren't actually glued to their bases. The person used blue sticky tac and then spray painted metallic spray over all of it.

I didn't take pictures before I started fixing everything, but you can see exactly how awkward the pinning/leg reattachment went on some of the jacks, as well as how bad the paint job was:

Nothing like sticky tac for getting models on bases!

It was actually piled all the way up in huge amounts. Lots of scraping to clean it up.

Talk about a mess.

You can see what lengths I went through to get the legs back on. This was the only way it'd fit.

It looks like a 5 year old was told to pain this guy. The leg in the air was the only leg actually still glued to the model when I received it.

The solution in nearly all cases was simply pinning, lots and lots of pinning legs back after dry fitting to see which pieces went with which broken jacks.  Fortunately I was able to get all my vectors up and stable on their bases.

My unit of Reciprocators were missing the tips of their halberds. These are near impossible to find bits for online, but I ended up going with the Steelsoul Protector spear from PP and luckily I was able to use the tip of the spear as a replacement for the halberds and have it work out nicely.  All in all it was $30 in bits from PP to replace parts either too broken to salvage or bits that were straight up missing. Not terrible, but not great either.

What was worse is that the Clockwork Angels and Auora model I had effectively fell apart over the years they sat in my closet.  My friend had used some really thin pins and apparently a not very good superglue.  I basically re-pinned everything with the Angels, though making sure to use a much thicker paperclip as my pinning.

Thicker pinning = Better Pinning

Between pinning up Aurora, 3 units of Clockwork Angels, and building a fresh Father Lucant, lets just say I never want to build anything like that again. My fingers still hurt from all the pinning I had to do to get those things securely built!

Next Steps

Once everything has been built up (I still have a few servitors to do), I'm going to apply basing material and then test out using a metallic spray paint as a base coat. I'll have to paint the base and the basing material black again, but it theoretically allows me a lot of speed up in terms of getting the army painted up quickly.  I definitely like the metal look, and I'm really keen on the idea of an easy to paint faction.

Gaming Results

I've been wanting to play a Synergy caster since forever and now I have my first opportunity with Syntherion.  He's also got a really nice toolkit and is pretty well rounded. Apparently he's fallen out of favor with the larger meta as very few people seem to be talking about him, but I wanted to give him a shot.

Since I was playing a friend of mine who is just hopping back into the game with a brand new faction (Circle), I decided to avoid some of the more blatant power pieces like the TEP or Axiom, just giving things a go with heavies in Destruction Initiative:

Syntherion
-Corrolary
-Cipher
-Cipher
-Assimilator
-Assimilator
-Inverter
-Diffuser
Optifex Directive
Algorithmic Dispersion Optifex

Elimination Servitors
Elimination Servitors
Attunement Servitors
Attunement Servitors

I squared off against Tanith running

Feral
Stalker
Loki
Reeves of Orboros + UA
Skinwalkers + UA
Wolves of Orboros + UA
Gallows Grove x2

Unfortunately for me the first time I put CoC on the table I had…performance issues.

I initially thought that being a WM veteran of over 15 years I'd be able to master the Focus Induction mechanic in my first game. I was wrong. We weren't playing on clock since my friend isn't really used to the game yet, but if I was on clock I'd have surely clocked out given the amount of time it took me to figure out how to allocate and induct in the right order to accomplish everything I wanted to in each turn.

I was actually holding my own fairly well in the game, but a missed Magnetic Hold screwed up my plans and then after charging in on the Feral+Loki on my feat turn, I didn't realize a mistake: I charged in where I'd trigger admonition, but this charge was the last activation for me in the turn – meaning the Stalker with Admonition could move to threaten Syntherion and not worry about anything else coming in.

I also was bad at contesting when I easily could have multiple times, so rather than having to take the assassination victory, my opponent just had to kill an objective and survive a free strike to move Loki into another zone to win on scenario.

After the game I realized that taking a single TEP in the list would dramatically improve my ability to handle the 20+ infantry on the table, allowing me to better focus on getting up in the trading game.

So basically Destruction Initiative = 1 TEP minimum, at least to start.  Given how excited I am to play with that piece, let alone the possibility of a few lists running two of them, this seems like a good general principle to start with.
